Janeice T. Martin grew up in
Collier County, graduating from St. John Neumann High School in 1989. She
went on to study Religion at Duke University and graduated with honors in 1993.
She received her J.D. with honors from the University of Florida, College of
Law, in 1996. While at the University of Florida, she published multiple
scholarly articles in the field of criminal constitutional law, and served as
Senior Symposium Editor for the Florida Law Review.
Ms. Martin has been
practicing law since 1996. She began her career practicing corporate and
transactional law with the Naples firm of Goodlette, Coleman and Johnson.
A desire to move into criminal law led her to accept a position as an
Assistant State Attorney in the Misdemeanor Division at the State Attorney's
Office in Naples.
Ms. Martin joined the Firm in 1998, where she has
limited her practice strictly to criminal defense. She was made a partner
in the Firm in 2003. Since joining the Firm, Ms. Martin has spent a
significant portion of her time working on domestic violence cases. She
has also written articles on domestic violence for local and statewide
publications.
Ms. Martin serves as an Executive Officer on the Board of
Directors for the Collier County Bar Association, and is also a Director on the
Board of the Collier County Legal Aid Society. She was awarded the 2006
Florida Bar President's Pro Bono Service Award for the Twentieth Judicial
Circuit.
